How to Plan a Sticker Sheet

  1. Choose the sheet

Pick US Letter, A4 or a custom size, and let the calculator choose the orientation that fits the most.

  2. Enter the sticker size

Type the width and height of a rectangle (with rounded corners if you like) or the diameter of a circle.

  3. Set margins and gaps

Enter the minimum page margins and the gaps between stickers, then download the centred layout.

How the Sticker Count Is Calculated

The stickers are laid out in straight rows and columns. The usable area is the sheet minus the margins, and each sticker except the last one in a row or column also needs its gap:

Usable width = sheet width − 2 × side margin

Columns = ⌊(usable width + gap) ÷ (sticker width + gap)⌋

Rows = ⌊(usable height + gap) ÷ (sticker height + gap)⌋

Stickers per sheet = columns × rows

⌊ ⌋ means rounding down. Whatever space is left over is split equally on both sides, so the grid sits in the middle of the sheet. With orientation set to automatic, the calculator also tries the sheet the other way round and keeps the layout with more stickers.

Choosing Margins and Gaps

Page margins
Most desktop printers can't print right to the edge of the page, and the unprintable border is different on every model. Check your printer's minimum margins and use at least that much. Cutting machines that read registration marks also need clear space around the page.
Gaps between stickers
If you cut stickers apart by hand, a gap gives you room to cut. If each sticker has bleed, make the gap at least twice the bleed so the bleed of one sticker never runs into the next.
No gap
A gap of 0 is fine for kiss-cut sheets where the stickers share cut lines, or for square stickers you cut apart along straight lines.

Bleed around each sticker? Size the sticker with the Label Bleed Calculator first, then use a gap of at least twice the bleed here.

Common Sheet Sizes

US Letter8.5 × 11 in215.9 × 279.4 mm

For any other sheet, choose Custom size and enter its width and height. The calculator treats the shorter side as the width in portrait orientation.

Using the Layout Template

  • SVG: drawn in millimetres at real size, with the sticker cut lines in their own group. Import it into Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity, Cricut Design Space or Silhouette Studio (Designer Edition or higher for SVG) and place your artwork inside each outline.
  • PDF: a page exactly the size of your sheet with the cut lines in place. Print it at 100% / Actual Size on plain paper and hold it over your sticker sheet to check the layout.
  • Print-then-cut machines: the machine's software adds its own registration marks and has its own maximum printable area. Check that limit before you plan a full-sheet layout.

Need a single label template with bleed and a safe area? Use the Label Bleed Calculator for rectangles or the Round Label Size Calculator for circles.

Sticker Sheet FAQ

How many 2 inch stickers fit on a sheet of paper?

On US Letter with 0.5 in margins and 1/8 in gaps, 12 square or round 2 in stickers fit (3 columns × 4 rows). With smaller margins or gaps more may fit, so enter your own values in the calculator.

How many 3 inch stickers fit on a Letter sheet?

With 0.5 in margins and 1/8 in gaps, 6 stickers of 3 × 3 in fit (2 columns × 3 rows).

What margins should I use on a sticker sheet?

At least your printer's minimum margins, which vary by model. If you use a cutting machine, also leave the space its registration marks need.

Should the sheet be portrait or landscape?

Leave orientation on automatic: the calculator tries both and keeps the one that fits more stickers. A 3 × 2 in sticker, for example, fits 9 per Letter sheet in landscape.

Does the count include bleed?

The count uses the sticker size you enter. If each sticker has bleed, either enter the size with bleed or use a gap of at least twice the bleed.

Can I use the template with Cricut or Silhouette?

Yes. The SVG imports at real size. Turn off the sheet outline if you only want the sticker cut lines. Print-then-cut features have their own printable area limits, so check those too.

Is the calculator free? Are my sizes uploaded?

It's free and needs no account. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
